She was captivating
He loved her like the sun
Loves the deep dark ocean
He saw his face reflecting
In the tears welled in her eyes
As he asked her to be his bride

She danced with him in daylight
She twirled amongst the beams
Of light that poured between the trees
But just before the wedding
Hiding in the shade
His bride gave herself away

So weeping in the garden
Falling to his knees
He prayed “please, take this cup from me”
And in His final question
Hands nailed to a tree
Eli cried, “lema sabacthani!”
The father crushed the temple
The wrath of God unleashed
